This came out wonderful, even though I made a number of adjustments. I used leftover pot roast, which cut downwards on the prep time considerably. I added 1/4 c. chopped onion; one clove garlic, chopped; and 1 stalk celery sliced; and i/2 t. Seasoned table salt; 1/2 t. Italian Seasonings; and one/4 t. pepper. After cooking the vegetables, I realized the remaining broth was not going to brand enough sauce, so I also added one package of brown gravy mix, prepared, to the final sauce, and added a splash of ruby-red cooking wine. Instead of only frozen peas, I added 1/2 c. frozen corn as well. I pre-baked the bottom crust for most vii minutes and it came out prissy and flaky, non at all mushy. I added sliced mushrooms to the acme of the vegetables in the pie before putting on the top crust. The one thing I didn't practice, merely will side by side time is layer the vegetables and sauce in the final associates. I had merely put the sauce over all the vegetables and it didn't soak through like I would have liked. This recipe probably would have been great with a lot less tinkering by me, but it came out wonderful even later on playing with it.

Why practise people CONSTANTLY rate their Ain version of these recipes v stars?! The entire betoken is to give feedback to the person who created/posted it. If you're going to change it upwards then don't bother rating it at all, because that's not authentic. I made this recipe EXACTLY AS STATED and it turned out keen! Kudos to you for coming upwardly with something tasty!

I am giving this recipe v stars even though I didn't follow it exactly. I used stew beef, put that in the lesser of the crock pot. Threw in the salt, pepper and cornstarch, added garlic and onion pulverisation, then tossed to glaze. I put the veggies in on height of that and poured in the beef broth. I cooked until beef was done and veggies were tender. Then I put it in a 9x13 pan, and dropped biscuits on elevation. I baked at 350 until the biscuits were done. We all loved information technology. Give thanks yous for the base recipe!

This was a hit at my house. I found it like shooting fish in a barrel and excellent. I did cheat though and instead of making the gravy I used 2 packs of brown gravy mix. I assure you this was the right amount of gravy and non dry. Will brand again. Merely I practice retrieve using fresh veggies and not frozen is a biggie.

This is a good overall recipe. I did make a some changes. Kickoff, I added some seasoning (rosemary, sage, white pepper, thyme) to the raw meat before searing (locks in some flavorful juices). Then, I used a combination of h2o and dry carmine wine to stew the meat (skim whatsoever scum off). I removed the meat later information technology was done and then cooked my vegetables in the same liquid as the beefiness (add water & common salt as necessary) . By doing this information technology volition give you a better tasting gravy which will need less cornstarch considering the vegetable starches which will assistance to deed as a thickening agent. Adjust the salt, white pepper and seasonings to taste. I also added sliced mushrooms at the end. I have establish that if you increase your vegetables slightly, you volition have enough for 2 pies. I used a homemade double crust to which I added nearly a teaspoon each of dried rosemary, thyme and some pinches of salt & white pepper to the flour before cutting in the shortening. It really makes a big divergence.

I prepared and froze this dish for my 'once-a-month cooking' group--I thawed and cooked my pot pie this evening, and it was nifty! I made a few changes to the recipe that made it a proficient scrap easier--I used a frozen light-green pea/carrot mix for the veggies, and I besides used frozen cubed hash dark-brown potatoes for the potatoes. Since I was going to be freezing my pies, I didn't precook the veggies at all (didn't fifty-fifty thaw them!), merely added them into the pie and covered with gravy--it was a lot easier! I also added some undiluted cream mushroom soup and dry chocolate-brown gravy mix to the sauce, and was then able to omit the cornstarch. My family enjoyed this a lot, fifty-fifty my xix-calendar month-old! Cheers

Everyone LOVED this pie. Adjustments: I left out the peas and added a tin of sliced mushrooms. I used the goop from the simmered meat (yielded one cup)in addition to the can of beefiness broth. Afterwards the potatoes and carrots (and I added a large, diced onion) were cooked, there wasn't much goop left. I likewise added 1/3 cup of scarlet wine to the gravy. The season of this pie was outstanding. My crusts cooked for ane hour at 375 degrees so plan co-ordinate to the directions on the box! I'thousand going to try this pie filling in a crock pot the next fourth dimension.
12/31/2002
The recipe is skilful, but I fabricated a couple of changes which made information technology easier for me. I dredged the meat in flour and seasoning before browning. It fabricated a wonderful gravy which I used to cook the vegatables. I didn't accept to use the broth or the cornstarch. I also added celery and onion to the vegetables. I too cooked information technology in a caserole dish with only a pinnacle crust. My family loved it!
ten/12/2006
I used leftover grilled steak-really worth grilling up extra steaks just for this. I like to make many small pies and shove them in the freezer for nights when I can't cook or manifestly don't feel like information technology. Easy enough to put cooking directions on the pie and let your family make dinner for you!
01/27/2005
I fabricated this pot pie in my culinary class and anybody loved information technology!!! I added onions and fresh garlic to information technology, and used my own pie chaff. It was succulent!!! I want to get in over again!!!
xi/09/2005
Very adept. I used chuck stew beef ( that was all I had) merely with the simmering information technology became very tender. Next time I will make my own pie crust though, I dont treat the ready made.
02/08/2009
My family thought this was just okay. I felt it was a bit bland when made equally is. Next time, I will change to my family's gustatory modality. This definately needs more gravy and seasoning.
03/26/2014
I started with leftover pot roast and potatoes and carrots that I cooked with it. I pre-cooked the bottom crust. I used 8 oz. of the pot roast, 1C carrots, 1C potatoes, and 1 C peas. I used a combination of chicken gravy I had and some beef soup base and a bit of leftover pot roast mushroom gravy with a trivial corn starch and had virtually 3C thickened gravy. Everything had already been well-seasoned when offset cooked with garlic, bay leaves, thyme, salt and pepper, so I just heated everything on the stove to a ho-hum boil, dumped it in the crust, added the summit crust, and baked for 45 minutes. Information technology's much quicker to throw this together from leftovers, and information technology is very succulent!!! Information technology's likewise very like shooting fish in a barrel to modify based on what's on paw or individual preferences.
02/21/2011
OMG!!!! This was soooo adept! I did alter this simply a piddling...I also used stewed beef like 1 other user considering that's all I had. I boiled my beef in beef broth and French onion soup (did non add water) for and additional flavor, after that boiled down to most at a frying stage...I added iv cups of water and allow it finish humid downwards. I omitted the common salt (the soup and goop is your table salt), the cornstarch and ane/3 C water. I than took ane celery stalk and separate it downwardly the middle twice and cubed forth with the rest of the veges, added about three sprinkles of seasoned garlic powder. After my beefiness was done, I re-measured my water and used two dry out gravy mixes that makes two cups ea. While whisking in the gravy mix it immediately thicken a little, added all the beef/vegetable mixture back to the gravy and gave it a stir...ladle the mixture and making sure information technology had enough gravy into my pie shell...topped information technology with the other trounce and baked. I had plenty left over to brand two more pies. I served mine on pinnacle of a bed of rice. Husband liked it merely didn't care too much for the store bought vanquish because it was a little also sweetness for him. As for me I loved information technology. Smashing comforting recipe. :-)
08/27/2014
I had a whole ribeye steak left over from yesterday's BBQ dinner and looked for a recipe to use it in today. The thought of a beef pot pie sounded fabled so I printed this one off! I idea that a beefiness gravy sounded tastier instead of corn starch and beefiness broth; just a personal gustation. So what I did was apply a beef gravy packet! I steamed some garden fresh chopped carrots and onion, minor cubed potatoes and sliced celery. I salted and brindled those veggies once they were tender. Then I cubed up the BBQ'd ribeye which had already been seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic pulverisation when information technology was BBQ'd. I placed the chopped steak and the steamed veggies in a bowl and mixed them up and then after stirring the dried, crushed thyme into the hot gravy, I put the veggies and steak into the deep dish pie plate and poured the gravy on top and so placed the pie crust on pinnacle. Baked as in the recipe at 400F for 35 minutes. Let it rest for 20 minutes when done. The flavors were scrumptious and a 5 star, for sure. I don't normally change recipes and so rate them merely I merely wanted to share this outcome every bit it was just so good.
03/22/2012
Succulent! I loved the way the steak was cooked to get it really tender. I did have to keep adding water but I used a VERY big wide pan. I used that pan considering I had decided I would just throw all the veggies (except the peas) in the last 15 minutes or so of the beef cooking to make everything easier and quicker. Worked like a charm ;) Of course similar all my pot pies I can never seem to go it to look pie-ish on the plate lol! Unless I completely absurd it downwards I run into information technology incommunicable! Anyhow, my family REALLY enjoyed this (especially the hubs) so thank you lot!
07/24/2011
I used left over roast beef for this recipe. It was very tasty and the family enjoyed information technology. I would myself next fourth dimension make a bit extra "broth" to add to it. Thanks!
11/07/2010
yum:p
01/30/2014
Loved this. Did not use the canned beef broth. Since the roast is getting cooked in h2o, information technology's like shooting fish in a barrel to brand gravy from this rather than canned broth. I threw in bay leaves, some dry onions and garlic (the last two melt downward to mush, pretty much, just help flavour the meat every bit it simmered.) When I made the gravy, I removed the bay leaves. You could strain the liquid and remove fatty, if you like. Figure a thin gravy ratio of one TBL cornstarch to thicken each cup of roast-cooking h2o you'd like to turn into gravy. Once the gravy thickens and I common salt/pepper/flavor it to suit us, I combine with the meat and vegetables so I can make sure I have plenty gravy before putting it in the shells. I follow another poster'due south suggestion to make from-scratch crusts and to pre-bake the bottom shell. I like to make this every bit a multiple-meal dish (ie Once a Month Cooking.) It can exist done without chaff if you can't be bothered, or with biscuit for a summit crust. When freezing this for later meals, I PRECOOK until crust simply starts to brownish earlier freezing. This ways that I merely accept to broil until hot (165 degrees in center) before serving. This also allows me to utilise the dish from frozen if I need to. There is some time penalisation from frozen, just nothing like information technology would exist if it had to COOK besides as thaw in the oven. Thawing starting time works better, but life is decorated. Note: a layer of parchment paper nether your bottom crust volition allow you to remove the frozen pie from your baking dish for storage.
11/26/2011
I added garlic and onion pulverization, and pre-cooked the beefiness in a slow cooker. Information technology was delicious!
03/02/2012
This was good, merely I miss the potatoes that they use to put in the frozen pot pies then I added a can of diced potatoes and that fabricated it perfect
01/11/2009
Excellent pot pie. I used a tin of Campbell Beefiness Vegetable soup and liquid beef oxo. Thickened it with flour and information technology turned out fantastic. Added most i tbsp parsley and one/4 tsp of cayenne pepper. This will make it in to my regular rotation.
ten/12/2012
I accept made chicken, turkey & veggie pot pies since I was about 10, simply never a traditional "homemade" from scratch beef pot pie. I've made Shepard's pie, enchilada pie, and every kind of quiche imaginable (including about viii original quiche recipes, similar my Reuben quiche). I already had a practiced idea most what to put in a beef pot pie, & how to flavour it to our taste, but wasn't sure about how to thicken the gravy and then it isn't too thin or to thick. I just found this site last week, when looking for a recipe for a Barbie Doll Cake. Everyone was so helpful I figured I could go some info here. This recipe was about helpful regarding thickening, then I based my beef pot pie on this procedure. Admittedly, I also added some veggies I like, like celery & mushrooms, and more seasonings, but information technology came out perfect with respect to the sauce, and nosotros all loved information technology!
01/06/2012
just sat down to eat our beefiness pot pie.. and information technology was delious.. cooked as directed.. the only thing is oven time was to short left it in for 45 mins.. perfect..
09/05/2009
Excellent. This is my version. Used leftover potroast beef [shredded] and gravy. Added one tin can of cream of mushroom soup to gravy in large sauce pan, burner on med.depression heat. boiled three big peeled and cubed potatoes till fork tender in boiling salted water, drain; add to gravy. Add one beefiness boullion cube. I also put a purse of frozen mixed veg. in pan. Stir, let absurd, so put in your pie crust. I baked at 425* for about 45 min. Yum!
01/02/2012
This was very proficient, just I call back the broil time, listed as 25 minutes at 350 degrees F, is incorrect. It took 45 minutes at that temperature to be browned sufficiently in my oven.
04/12/2008
Excellent. I have never made a pot pie and my husband loves them. I used what I had in the house. Beef was the finish piece of a beef tenderloin which I dusted with flour earlier browning. Also sauted mushrooms and onions together and added to beefiness. I needed to utilize these upward. Then continued with the recipe as written. Results were awesome. Thank you for the posting.
12/17/2014
How-do-you-do Stephanie, I never knew how to brand a beef pot pie. I made your recipe and information technology was terrific! I didn't modify a single thing. You're a practiced cook, dearie! Maggie P.S. This is one of my favorite recipes and I make it often...
03/03/2011
This tasted to us but like a Swanson pot pie. How much you lot like them will tell how much you will like this.
05/22/2013
This was really good.I will be making this once again.Did usa a box of veg broth mixed in with the beef broth. They were both opened so I wanted to use it.I also added onions, every bit my family unit loves onions and added garlic powder to the beef. With the veggies I as well added frozen mix veggies equally I simply had a few left.skillful way of using up ingreds.I will exist making this more than often.
04/12/2013
Excellent!!! I did add some actress seasonings based on other people's suggestion. I added sage, thyme, rosemary, celery salt, & garlic powder to the gravy mixture. I besides recomend using 2-3 times the beef goop so you have something to make the gravy with. My first tin can of goop was almost gone by the time my carrots and potatoes where done coooking. I highly recommend this recipe every bit everyone in my family loved it!
09/27/2012
This is a really easy recipe, though information technology takes a long fourth dimension to make. Took me almost 5 hours total. But information technology was Succulent!!! My husband had seconds and so I know information technology was really skilful because he hardly ever has seconds. I did make a few modifications: used a beef bouillon cube when simmering the steak and added some red cooking wine. Then when the carrots and potatoes were cooking, I added garlic, onion, thyme and fresh rosemary. I had to add some water to the gravy mixture because there wasn't much left after cooking everything else. I might employ 2 cans of beefiness broth next time. The one matter that annoyed me a little was that information technology made a lot, way too much for 1 pie pan. So I used a bigger dish, which the pie chaff didn't exactly fit but I stretched it out to fit. Broiled it for fifty mins and information technology was perfect. Definitely volition be making this ane again; it's a keeper!!
10/08/2014
Really tasty. Used the slow cooker instead of the stove top merely used the aforementioned ingredients. I browned the meat outset, put it in the deadening cooker then mixed it with the cornstarch salt and pepper. I topped it with the carrots And potatoes and poured 20 ounces of beef broth on top. Let it cook for a few hours then put it in the pie vanquish and baked for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. It was a hit.
01/25/2013
Love! LOVE! Beloved!! Worth the time to put into this. Made this with homemade pie crust for the next day! Daddy had to consume some right abroad, he just couldn't resist! :)
ten/23/2011
Super! Dredged beef strips in one-half cornstarch- half flour... Gravy was perfect. Added raw chopped veg in last 10min of cooking beef, it didn't demand whatever boosted beef stock. Used onion, carrot, celery and potato equally the veg. Popped it in individual casserole dishes, shortcrust pastry on elevation, served with chopped parsley topping on the side... Deelish!
01/07/2003
This is delicious! Followed previous reviewers tips and made the following changes: dredged meat in flour and cut way dorsum on the cornstarch; added bay leaf to simmering meat, then removed before combining with other ingredients; spiced upward with thyme, rosemary and fresh ground black pepper; doubled the sauce; fabricated like casserole and only topped with one crust...but hubby said he'd similar it side by side fourth dimension as a pot pie with ii crusts, as that was his favorite combined with meat/sauce. Also, next time I'll double the meat for my hungry growing teens. Thanks Stephanie.
02/22/2011
Nifty Recipe! I doubled it and it came out not bad! I as well didn"t bother to brownish my meat. I just boiled it in seasoned h2o and shredded it.
xi/27/2012
This was a delicious beef pie. I had leftover pot roast and au jus that I put to apply instead of the sirloin steak and canned beef broth. And since in that location are only two of united states of america at domicile I cut the recipe in one-half, cooked it in a small-scale casserole dish and only used a tiptop chaff. This is a existent keeper for using up leftover roast beef.
01/29/2014
My husband gave this two thumbs upward and said he would similar to have it again...before long. I used cooked, cubed london broil that I had in the freezer so it only took a little over an hr to prepare and cook the pot pie. I don't like peas so I left them out and added one stem of celery and three dark-green onions, sliced. I also reduced the cornstarch and added three tablespoons of brown gravy mix to help thicken the broth and make it richer. It is a very adaptable recipe that allows you to add together and delete vegetables to your sense of taste. It was perfect comfort food on a cold, snowy day.
03/25/2014
I used a blade roast and while it was simmering I added ii bay leaves. I didn't use the beef broth or frozen peas because I didn't take either on manus then I used onion, celery and carrots. With a little salt and pepper I found information technology was quite tasty. My hubby ate as a stew for two days and loved it then I made pie crust and fabricated meat pies for him to have when I work afternoons.
04/03/2012
This was just Awesome! I cheated and had leftover prepared beef pot roast from Costco (Mortons) and used it in identify of the commencement two ingredients. Everyone loved it and you lot tin add together whatever vegetables you prefer or accept in the fridge!
01/xx/2015
This was pretty adept. The simply confusing thing was how much gravy you should have. My potatoes and carrots absorbed a lot of liquid while cooking.
03/08/2007
THIS is REALLY good. I've fabricated a turkey/chicken pot pie earlier ... never a beef i. My husband and I would DEFINITELY take this again. I added chopped onion - which really enhanced the flavor!
02/21/2011
This is a good BASE recipe. There is no style I would make this again following the recipe as is. Everything came out extremely dry out.
11/xv/2010
Wasn't crazy about this pie, but my hubby loved it and so I'll go far over again LOL ;)
12/03/2014
This turned out really well. The merely suggestions I have are to double the gravy (tastes bully but just not enough) and possibly add together some onion. This was very good and very easy to make.
12/12/2010
The recipe is very good, but I would play with the spices next time. It actually needs a keek...
09/12/2007
Fantastic. I made the recipe without the pie vanquish, I made biscuits insead. Only it would accept been skilful with a pit shell too I am sure. My husband loved it. I did add some seasoning to the h2o for the beef, I retrieve that helped with season, and I simply used 2T of cornstarch for the gravy. (I started with 2T and held the 3rd out to encounter if I would need it - didnt!)It would have been style likewise thick with 3T as chosen for and then I gave iv stars.
10/28/2001
I love this recipe and and then does my family unit. However, it'southward even yummier with extra sauce. I double the sauce, and it makes a huge difference. If you lot tin't fit it all into the pie, serve the extra sauce on the side. So good!
01/07/2010
This pie was quite succulent. To salve time, I used leftover tri-tip and and roasted cherry-red baby potatoes. I sauteed the carrots with onions and garlic. After removing the carrots/onions/garlic from the skillet, I cooked the beefiness broth and cornstarch/h2o mixture in the skillet until it thickened into a nice gravy. Then, I added all the ingredients to the gravy, placed information technology in a pie plate with homemade crust, and baked information technology until the crust was dark-brown. It was a hitting.
12/27/2012
This recipe was very good and delivered an excellent meal! I used leftover prime number rib from our Christmas dinner, so I did not accept to go through all the meat prep - I would probably just make this using some sort of meat leftovers. I too added 1/2 yellowish onion, diced very finely and did not add the carrots to the goop until the last 5 minutes then that they did not become too mushy. A total loving cup of peas was a bit much (and I like peas!) I used 16oz h2o and 2 boullion cubes rather than beef broth and did find that I needed to add more liquid when I made my gravy (I really ended up but adding some leftover gravy from Christmas dinner). The broil time ended up beingness more like an 60 minutes; when I make information technology once more I volition raise the heat just a bit and aim for a bake fourth dimension of nigh 45 minutes. All in all, really, actually practiced!
03/15/2013
Im merely giving four stars because i added alot more seasoning's! and i used a bag of frozen mixed veggies and used stew meat this was uncomplicated to set up and Tasted amazing!! I fabricated my ain pie crust from this site!! A keeper in my business firm!!
05/01/2014
It was actually bland even after calculation garlic pulverisation sage table salt-and-pepper
06/xv/2010
this was pretty adept, although i made several adjustments. first i used venison steaks and dredged in flour, s&p, thyme, and garlic pulverisation and after browning, i added the h2o, a beef bouillon cube, and about 3T. of worcestershire and only cooked in the water for about 1hr (i didn't fifty-fifty really need to do this my venison was tender to begin with). i used i large potato, 2 carrots, two mushrooms, ane celery stalk, half a can of corn, near 1/2 c. frozen peas and similar others suggested used the h2o from the meat pan to add with my beef broth, also spiced the veggie water with 1 garlic clove, s&p, celery seed, thyme. as far as the gravy is concerned, i did make a packet of brown gravy mix but tried to utilize equally little as possible the sauce y'all make is then good i hated to ruin information technology by adding but it needed more than liquid
04/07/2009
I dearest this recipe, Best pot pie I've always had although I did change it a bit. I used Stew meat dredged in flour with Broiled steak seasoning, Mrs. Dash, Garlic, Onion salt and ground peper before browning. I used beefiness broth and simmered in crock pot. seperated beefiness from goop, cooked vegies in broth, used arrow root to thicken. browned bottom crust prior to filling.
06/03/2011
What a unproblematic and easy recipe! I whipped this upward in no time. I wished the gravy would have stand out more, only that is nothing a petty tweeking can't ready! Thank you for sharing!
01/eighteen/2015
Very Skillful Recipe But The Finished Product Turned Out A Niggling Dry out For Me. Overall It Was A Very Tasty Dish Though And Volition Make This Again.
02/25/2002
I usually ready chicken pot pie only tried this for the red meat lover in my household. We all enjoyed this recipe. I used frozen hashbrowns rather than fresh potatoes every bit suggested by another review. Also used the broth generated during the cooking of the steak rather than canned goop. First-class.
08/20/2008
This is a corking pie if you have leftover beef. I cut up 2 lbs of leftover roast and put i/2 in pie crust. As someone else had suggested, I took ii cups of beef broth and threw in cut upwardly carrots, frozen peas and two cups of frozen hash browns. I boiled information technology together and strained it leaving the picayune bit of liquid yet in the pan. Cascade ane/ii over meat in chaff. To drippings add ane can of cream of mushroom soup and 1 pkg of brown gravy mix. (Another suggestion) Pour ane/two into crust and repeat last layers. Cover with remaining chaff and bake. It was wonderful and VERY EASY. Can't beat that. Thanks so much!
05/27/2010
Yummy! This was hearty and easy. I wanted to cut out some of the calories, so I used pork chops. Simply it was yummy!
03/28/2003
This is a tasty recipe. I read the other comments almost the bottom chaff non cooking and so I Pre-cooked the bottom crust and then added the filling and cooked. It needs more than gravy and was dry. Great thought and I may add more than broth and make again.
03/11/2013
This recipe is crawly! My whole family loved it. The just matter was that it was kind of banal tasting. Next time I am going to add together garlic. I did frozen mixed veggies instead of the veggies listed, and information technology was even so great.
01/02/2011
It was sooo good and the kids fifty-fifty loved it too!
01/26/2003
This was very skillful and hearty. I used what veggies i had on manus with homemade pie crust. Fabricated another for the freezer. Dear those pot pies.
02/17/2001
I used the water I cooked the beef in as my 1/3 cup of water. I think information technology really added to the flavor. Yum.
10/07/2010
Making this once again tonight, nosotros just beloved it! I like to make information technology with leftover steak that we grilled, it gives it a neat taste. I likewise add the juices from the meat to the white potato beef broth for the gravy so there is enough. It'due south as well good to add together some fresh mushrooms or even some canned ones to information technology. I as well use a bag of mixed veggies instead of cut upwardly carrots, this mode it has green beans, etc included. Dearest Information technology!!!!
11/06/2005
Excellent! My husband inquire me several times to find a recipe for pot pie. This was my start endeavor and he really liked it. I used a bones flaky pie crust and was vert pleased.
01/25/2016
Fabricated this last dark and it was actually good. Notwithstanding, adjacent fourth dimension I believe I would prefer mixing the meat/veggie mixture into the gravy before filling the pie shell.
01/27/2001
I found this to be a really practiced recipe, the kids actually liked information technology. The prep and cook time was a little misleading, because of the fourth dimension it took to simmer the beefiness, but I enjoyed the recipe overall. I will definitely brand this one again.
12/03/2002
This is a squeamish filling. For the veggie part, I starting time sauteed some chopped onions, added the potatoes and carrots and sauteed a bit more than, then added the goop. I put in a bay leave and some peppercorns to give it more than flavour and removed them earlier putting into the pie.
09/thirty/2005
Human, this was disappointing. Perchance pot pies merely aren't for me, but this lacked season. If I e'er exercise this over again, I'm going to marinade the meat in some kind of sauce beforehand, and use sweet potatoes. Bland, bland, bland.
x/12/2010
Great and simple one time the beef is cooked. Great left over.
xi/25/2009
turn out really well. the meat was sooo tender. I had to put more gravy though.
01/04/2004
Luckily I used the meat from a left over roast (which was already well seasoned) for this pot pie because otherwise I retrieve information technology would have been really bland. Also, I cooked the veggies in the beef broth and then thickened it as directed, but it got very thick, very fast and really was hardly any gravy for the pot pie, just a small amout of gluey sauce, so the pot pie ended up rather dry.
09/25/2008
This is almost definitely a four and a half star recipe. I fabricated a few changes, only for personal preference. I'm sure information technology's fantastic every bit written. I used a little flour on the beef, I added garlic and Worcestershire sauce, and I added a little more than liquid. I thought it was then good I could have made myself sick eating likewise much!
06/12/2003
Very skilful! 100 times amend than the frozen kind. Needed a little more salt and pepper added at the serving phase, but I volition know next time to add together actress to the gravy equally it thickens. I will definitelty be calculation this one to the family menu!
xi/08/2009
I did change this a bit. I dredged the meat in seasoned flour before cooking and threw in a bay leaf with the water. I used the resulting liquid for the gravy instead of canned goop and added worcester sauce to information technology. I too left out the potatoes as my husband wanted mashed potatoes on the side. This turned out very tasty, a trivial too runny though so next fourth dimension will thicken more. I also was not crazy well-nigh the pie crusts, they didn't seem to hold the filling very well and seemed to get thin and mushy. Next time I will brand my own and I'grand sure it will be smashing!

This is a really GREAT recipe. It was very tasty and overally like shooting fish in a barrel to put together. I used the "baby" carrots and scarlet potatoes which cut off a little fourth dimension for tenderization of the veggies. Thanks for the recipe; it was a big hit. Fifty-fifty my 6 twelvemonth old liked it!!!!!

WOW! Peachy recipe! Unfortunately I put as well much meat and veggies in and didn't accept enough of the gravy to really keep everything moist. Purely my error, though, and everyone LOVED this recipe. What fun, as well! THANKS!-

This was a fantastic dish! Of form, I didn't follow the recipe to the letter of the alphabet, simply it was a dandy jumping off signal for me. I tossed the beefiness in flour, garlic powder, onion pulverisation, kosher salt and fresh blackness pepper earlier browning. Instead of simmering it in water, I used 2 cups beefiness broth. I also threw in some balsamic vinegar to requite it some tang. When it was time to cook the vegetables, I added extra beef goop to the leftover goop from the meat. I also mixed the gravy with the shredded beef and vegetables instead of pouring it on top. Information technology was fabulous, and my married man said it'due south going to supersede beef stew in my itemize of meals. I tin can't wait to eat information technology again!

I fabricated this dish on a cold night. I had a ii lbs of sirloin steaks. They werent the greatest cut of meat. I had no idea what to do since it was likewise common cold to gril. I pulled these out FROZEN threw them in a pot of water (just plenty to cover it) with the same amount of bullion cubs. Boiled about ii hrs until tender enough to shred. Later shreding beef and returning information technology to the pot, I cut up some potatoes threw them in and cooked about 15 or so mins til done. I added a handbag of frozen veggie mix (Carrots corn peas green beans) and cooked a few mins. Added garlic powder, black pepper to gustation and the cornstarch. I put it in a 13X9 pan covered with the pie crust and baked until crust was done. Delish!! Impressed the heck out of the in-laws!! Thank you!!

Definitely a keeper, but it needs a footling more than carrots and potatoes. I added a little corn, celery, and browned the steak with onions and various spices (a footling Dijon mustard, too). I didn't boil the meat, either... I prefer it a with a petty substance. ;-)

This was very good. I wanted to cutting down on the time, and so instead of boiling the meat for 2-3 hours, I browned with onions and garlic and then boiled for 30-45 minutes. It wasn't autumn autonomously tender, but got it washed much sooner. I also used canned potatoes and carrots to cutting down on the prep time of the veges. When making the gravy, I added onion powder, garlic salt, table salt and pepper. I baked for 25 minutes, that wasn't nearly long enough for crust to get crisp, then had to double the time. Overall the finished product was very good.

I gave this recipe the five stars. Kickoff, it was very elementary I did not accept to create a pie chaff from scratch. Two, this recipe is filling and volition definately hold you lot. Third, the kids enjoyed it!!! The just affair I had changed was past adding Garlic Powder to the meat before pouring it into the pie shell.

I used a left over roast and gravy for the meat and added garlic and actress onion. Made homemade crust too. Turned out great!

This was a good start for a beef pot pie. I will however experiment with different herbs to effort to brand it taste more like Swanson'southward hungry man's beef pot pie...my favorite.

Excellent recipe! I beloved the fact that it doesn't have whatever pre-made soups in it. I did alter this a flake (added onion, celery and more than spices) merely otherwise I didn't change a thing. I did accept to broil it for 45 minutes though.

This was pretty good, definitely needed more gravy. It was a little dry which is why I have it 4 stars.

I took advantage of a cold weekend to make this. With one petty twist, venison was used instead of the beefiness. It was a fiddling time consuming but all I had to do was tend the fire and scout some football I made do.

On this occasion, I was using upwardly left overs, so I eliminated some of the precooking steps. Otherwise I followed the recipe completely and it came it out peachy!

Great recipe left out peas.

I made this recipe exactly as it states. Overall it was great. Information technology was a scrap dry. Not sure what I tin practice for next time. Perchance non add cornstarch part at all and just cover with beef broth. Or peradventure use a jar of gravy and acme-it with that. If anyone had a proposition on how to brand it more than saucy, I would capeesh that.
